Playing tourist in Melbourne

Last month we have had a relative visiting from Croatia, so we did a bit of sight seeing.

So where did we go?

For the must see Australian fauna : Healesville sanctuary

We included a magic moment with an echidna. I thought the magic moment was reasonably priced at $12 each.
For some retail therapy we headed to Chadstone shopping centre and as usual I got lost in there.

Brighton beach boxes for the beach experience plus photos in front of the bathing box painted as the Australian flag. While in the area we went for a walk along the Stkilda forshore and then on to Station Pier Port Melbourne for lunch.

Studley park boat house for lunch by the Yarra river. If we had an extra adult we would of hired a row boat but it's a bit hard to row and keep two kids out of the water!
Botanical gardens for a stroll through the gardens and a play for the kids at the Ian potter children's garden. (Must take bathers or a change of clothes for the kids if it's over 26 degrees as the water feature will be on!)

Because I still had to work a few days a week, other relatives showed our visitor the Queen vic night market and Sunday market
Eureka sky deck , federation square,  shopping in the city
Lunch in Williamstown and dinner in Lygon street Carlton
And the lucky ducks also got to spend a couple of nights on the Gold Coast.

So there is lots to see in Melbourne and surrounds - I had places on my list that we didn't make it to, so will have to save them for next time.

Palacinke (crepes) in the Thermomix for Pancake Tuesday.

Palacinke (crepes) in the Thermomix.
1 1/2 cups of plain flour
1 1/2 cups of milk
2 eggs
pinch of salt
1 tbsp vanilla essence
butter to melt in the pan
Add all ingredients (apart from butter) to Thermomix.
Mix on speed 4 for 20 seconds, check to see if all combined repeat if required.
I like to let my mixture rest in the fridge for 30 minutes or so.
Add some butter to a hot pan, spoon batter in and cook for 1-2 mins,
then flip and cook for 30 seconds.
Spread with jam (our favourite is Rose Hip), roll up and eat!

Finally finished - December Christmas album

I snuck a couple of 15 minute chunks over the past few days to finally finish my December Christmas album.  It's very light on journaling but they do say 'a pictures worth a thousand words' lol
All the supplies including the base pages in the album are from the 'jingle all the way' kit from Evalicious

Sorry some of the pics are sideways :(

My Stampin' Up! Announcement

I made the decision not to continue as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator as I no longer feel I have the time to put into my little business let alone create anything.
I can recommend the following demonstrators for all your Stampin' Up! needs
Ruth Fok - Doncaster
Genevra Higgs - Watsonia
Maybe send them an email to be added to their newsletter lists to keep up to date with the latest happenings and specials at Stampin' Up!

Pork and chive dumplings with the Thermomix

So for Chinese New Year I wanted to make some dumplings.
Now my usual recipe is the fish and prawn ones from the Thermomix baby and toddler book but I didn't get a chance to get some fresh seafood so I made up a recipe using pork and chives.

Put a bunch of roughly chopped chives into Thermomix bowl Speed 7 2 seconds, scrape and repeat.
Add 500g minced pork, 10g soy sauce, 2 tsp of minced garlic (because I forgot to crush some cloves at the start), 20g Chinese cooking wine, 10g seasame oil and 20g oyster sauce.
Mix for 1 minute Reverse speed 4.
Fill wonton wrappers (I used the ready made ones but I might have ago of making my own next time)
Spray Varoma dish and tray lightly with cooking oil.
Place dumplings in Varoma with space around them.
Fill bowl with 1 litre of water, place varoma on top
and cook for 17 min Varoma temp speed 4
Serve was a splash of soy.
