We took the kids to Lake Mountain Resort to see the snow last weekend.
Josh really enjoyed it, especially when I suggested he go down the toboggan run on his own toboggan. (One of us stayed right next to him on the other toboggan). Charlotte didn't like the toboggans. She preferred to check out the little snowmen and to have snowball fights. (We had been playing snow and snowball fights at home with white fluffy pompoms.)
Tips for taking young kids to the snow:
Go to the closest mountain - we had a lot of "where is the snow", "I just want to be there now" in the car on the way.Hire toboggans, snow boots and over pants (and over jackets if required) They will only get one winter out of them if you buy them.
Get your gate entry ticket from the ski hire place to avoid the queues at the bottom of the mountain.
Get there early to get in the closest car parks - so you don't have to walk 100-200 metres carrying your gear, toboggans and tired kids and to avoid waiting in lines for food etc, because little kids get grumpy/tired in the afternoon.
Take a spare change of clothes (or two) so the kids have nice dry clothes for the drive home.
